Jim and Janet Dooley opened North Shore Trading Company in 2003, selling some used canoes and consignment clothing. They soon added American Traders canoes, Seda kayaks and canoes, Emotion kayaks, Sawyer paddles, Mitchell paddles, Woolrich clothing, Patagonia clothing, Keen Footwear, Smith Optics and local art.
Instructors Scott Cordner and Cathleen Calkins completed their training in 2008 and offer classes through North Shore Trading Company.
