Jim and Janet Dooley opened North Shore Trading Company in 2003, selling some used canoes and consignment clothing.  They soon added American Traders and Old Town canoes; Seda, Emotion, Necky and Old Town kayaks; Sawyer, Werner and Mitchell paddles; The North Face and Woolrich clothing; Keen Footwear, Smith Optics and local artisans.

Instructors Scott Cordner and Cathleen Calkins completed their BCU certified training in 2008 and offer classes through North Shore Trading Company.
